Top 10 Most Expensive MTG Cards in Mercadian Masques – 7. Misdirection

Misdirection reached a lofty peak of $25 before its Conspiracy reprint sent its price tumbling down below $5. It has rallied in the last couple of years to be worth $12.50 today, and tends to be played in EDH lists that want to defend their commanders at all costs, such as Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow. It also remains reasonably popular in cEDH, where spot removal is much more prevalent, but my favorite use of this card in is Lier, Disciple of the Drowned decks. In order to make sure Lier isn’t too obnoxious, R&D gave it a “spells can’t be countered” clause so you can’t flashback counters: it doesn’t say anything about redirection effects, though!
